Boogie Bio (agrichar) is created from premium hardwood high-carbon materials that are gasified under low oxygen conditions (pyrolysis). This is clean and green product producing both syngas for green energy and biochar to be used as a soil amendment. Boogie Bio is applied once, but the results will last forever as long as you keep your soil active. This is easy to do: Regularly-applied compost teas and / or annual compost, (mulch, etc), applications, along with seasonal cover crops, will keep your Boogie Bio “charged” and ready for living-soil duty over years to come!
Proper pyrolisis allows Boogie Bio‘s high porosity char to create a stable form of carbon that will improve soil health and plant growth. In recent years, biochar in gardening and agriculture has explored in popularity as regenerative farmers have experienced its rewards.
- Boogie Bio should always be activated before adding at around 5% to your living soil recipe. Just soak the supplied Boogie Base tea in a bucket of water, (from 1/4 gallon to 1 gallon per cu ft of char is plenty)
- Add the included packet of Sucanat (raw sugar cane juice crystals), mix ingredients thoroughly and let sit for a few minutes, then pour the resultant slurry onto your char…..blend the ‘mound’ around……Now scratch the freshly-charged char sparingly into your topsoil, (up to 5% suggested volume).
- Or, if you posess an aerator, simply brew the Boogie Base ingredients into a superb “workhorse” tea, (with supplied Sucanat), for a period of 24 to 48 hours. This simple vermi-tea’s army of organisms will subsequently populate Biochar’s valuable ‘sponge spaces’ with billions of beneficial microbes, triggering perfect conditions for carbon-digesting critters to colonize their carbon-home and maintain your soil’s critical food web.
Q: Is the char already “innoculated”? I understand that biochar will adsorb nutrients from soil if it isn’t already microbially “charged”.
A: Biochar doesn’t lock out nutrients from soil in the long term. It will slowly release back and make them available to your plants. If you use biochar without compost you just need to make sure soil is moist and allow for slower stages of growing to begin with. However it will regain growth and the roots will end up much healthier. You can also easily pre-charge your Boogie Bio with a good compost tea recipe.
